Türkiye’s political future following the arrest of İmamoğlu

Immagine
I n late March 2025, Türkiye once again captured global headlines amid mass protests organised by the main opposition party, the Republican People’s Party (CHP), in major cities including Istanbul , Ankara and Izmir. Observers are struggling to understand what is happening in the country, but this situation is not unique to Türkiye. The entire global political stage is marked by ambiguity. The world has been affected by a series of profound crises over the past fifteen years and is undergoing a period of radical transformation. The impact of this shift is visible across nations — the political course taken by former US President  Donald Trump  being just one example of such changes. Following several days of heightened tension and political turmoil triggered by the arrest of Istanbul Mayor  Ekrem İmamoğlu , the protests began to lose momentum. This was particularly evident in Türkiye’s largest city, Istanbul, after formal charges of corruption and embezzlement...

Cooperative security is the only sustainable approach to conflict prevention

Immagine
The future of European security depends on recognizing that cooperative security is the only sustainable approach to preventing conflict. The Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) provides a ready-made framework for de-escalation, but it has remained underutilized in favour of North-Atlantic Treaty Organisation’s (NATO) threat-based security architecture. Immagine

Belarus's membership in this organisation holds a strategic geopolitical dimension, as the country borders three EU member states, as well as Russia to the east and northeast, Ukraine to the south, Poland to the west, and Lithuania and Latvia to the northwest. This summit marked the inaugural meeting in the " SCO Plus " format, which includes 10 member states and 14 dialogue partner states. Dialogue partner status has been available since 2008.
