Le elezioni anticipate del presidente, tenutasi il 9 luglio, digitando 87,05% dei voti, ha sconfitto il presidente uscente  Shavkat Mirziyoyev .  La sua candidatura è stata avanzata dal partito UzLiDeP  e sostenuta dal partito « Ripresa Nazionale » . I risultati preliminari delle elezioni sono stati annunciati in un briefing a Tashkent  dal presidente della Commissione Elettorale Centrale, Zainiddin Nizamkhojaev .
